Creature Comforts for Beautiful Boudoirs
Our bedrooms should be the one place in the house which is truly ours: a sanctuary we can retreat to at the end of a hard day; somewhere to relax and to unwind. With this in mind, many of us are finding ingenious ways to cram in as many creature comforts as possible. Fitted wardrobes and storage solutions are excellent ways of maximising the space available to enable us to install as many little luxuries as possible. So why not use your space to its full advantage, and make your bedroom as welcoming as possible?
Creature comfort 1: the hotel hospitality station
How often do you start your days on holiday with a nice cup of tea in bed, courtesy of the hospitality tray in your room? While we're not necessarily advocating keeping a tiny plastic kettle by your bed at all times, our bedside cabinets should be able to work harder for us. From contemporary coffee stations, to music docking stations, it's great to be able to lean out of bed and have everything to hand. If boutique hotel style is something that whets your appetite, why not think about incorporating a bespoke bedside cabinet system as part of your fitted bedroom?
Creature comfort 2: the dressing room
Perhaps you have a tiny box room next door to the master suite, or a wasted corridor area which is big enough to incorporate a fitted wardrobe; if so, how about creating a walk-in wardrobe or dressing room space? There's something so luxurious about having a large area, complete with built in wardrobes, to organise all of your clothes and accessories, and sometimes commandeering an area to create a walk in wardrobe is an excellent use of space, as it makes the rest of the room seem less cluttered.
Creature comfort 3: the en suite bathroom
Just as it may be worthwhile to commandeer some space for a walk in wardrobe, the same may be true of an en suite bathroom - particularly if your home currently requires everyone to share the family bathroom. It doesn't have to be a large area, just enough for a shower cubicle, sink and toilet, but if you can fit one in, you'll be surprised at how much you'll love having your bathroom to hand. Install sliding doors at its entrance, and using the same type of units for both the fitted wardrobes in the bedroom and the fitted bathroom storage will create a flowing, streamlined feel.
Creature comfort 4: luxurious seating
Beautiful seating is not out of place in the bedroom. It's also another way of creating that boutique hotel feel. Whether it's a stylish wingback chair, or a gorgeously sunny window seat, it's nice to have somewhere to snuggle up with a good book or a glass of wine. If it's a window seat that takes your fancy, you could even incorporate this as part of your overall fitted bedroom design.
