New trends in bathroom suites for 2015

Bathroom suites have come a long way in recent years, reflecting the evolution of the bathroom from a practical and plainly-styled, even stark, place in which to freshen up as quickly as possible, to an inviting haven in which to let the stresses of the day slip away.
Within that evolution the bathroom does of course now have something of a split personality: a morning space in which to energise for the day ahead, before cradling the weary at the end of the day.

Bathroom suites, and bathroom designs in general, are constantly being rethought and everyone will have their own ideas of their perfect bathroom – whether cosy and intimate or sleek and chic.

A new year brings new home improvement trends and bathroom suites this year are no exception; here are some predicted trends for the year ahead.

Bathroom suites with free-standing bath tubs

The trend for a fitted bath seems to be on the wane as a new wave of luxurious free-standing statement-making bath tubs will provide a space in which to relax and recharge. With so many shapes and styles to choose from, your choice of bathroom suites can really add to the bathroom design. A rounded or organic ovoid shape can soften a square or rectangular space, while an angular bath will augment sleek lines.

Bathroom suites paired with natural materials – especially wood

The texture of wood, with its grains and knots, can bring real warmth and character if the bathroom is looking a little clinical. There's a wide choice of porcelain tiles which replicate the look of natural wood and will enhance bathroom suites for a space with added calm and serenity. Tile choices aren't restricted to the floor; bathroom suites with a backdrop of wood on walls or unit surfaces can be equally inviting. Natural stone is also predicted to be a top trend to enhance modern bathroom suites.

Add texture with tiles

Tiles will add texture, colour and interest to enhance stylish bathroom suites. If opting for a single colour tile, it's easy to create interest by mixing and matching different shapes. The herringbone trend is still very popular to create patterns and making a feature of floor tiles will make a big style statement, whatever the size of the bathroom.

Integrating showers within bathroom suites

Although bath tubs are very much in vogue, generously-proportioned showers continue to be popular, with more space given over to them in the overall layout. The trend for freestanding showers, as an integral part of bathroom suites, will continue with walk-in showers (rather than a cubicle or over-bath shower).

Bathroom suites are a smart home investment, both for your own comfort and for adding value to your home. Along with the kitchen, bathrooms are particularly interesting to house buyers and carefully-thought out and luxurious bathroom suites will certainly add to your home's resale value.
